Privacy Policy

ClashLand · Last updated September 6, 2026

ClashLand (“we”, “us”) is a location-based game: you walk a loop in the real world and the area inside it becomes your territory. This policy explains what we collect, why, and the choices you have. We do not sell your personal data and we do not show ads.

What we collect

  • Account data — email address, player name, optional first and last name, city and profile photo. If you sign in with Apple or Google we receive your name, email and (Google) profile picture from that provider.
  • Location data — while a capture is active we record your GPS route (coordinates, timestamps, accuracy and speed), including in the background with the screen off. Recording stops when you finish or cancel the capture. We never track your location outside of an active capture.
  • Health and fitness data (Apple Watch) — if you use the ClashLand watch app and grant HealthKit access, we collect heart rate, active energy, distance, steps, respiratory rate, blood oxygen, heart rate variability and VO₂ max for the duration of a capture, and attach them to that capture. HealthKit data is used only to enrich your own captures and achievements. It is never used for advertising, never shared with third parties, and never sold.
  • Game data — territories, captures, points, level, achievements, territory names, leaderboard positions and an activity feed entry (“Player claimed a territory”) visible to other players.
  • Device data — a push notification token, platform (iOS, watchOS, Android) and app version, used to deliver notifications and to detect cheating (for example impossible speeds or spoofed locations).

How we use it

  • To run the game: build territories from your routes, award points and achievements, rank players and show territories on the map.
  • To keep the game fair: verify routes against cheating and review suspicious captures.
  • To notify you about claimed territories, leaderboard changes and territories taken by other players (you can disable notifications in system settings).
  • To provide support and respond to your requests.

What other players can see

Your player name, profile photo, level, points, territories (as shapes on the map), territory names and activity entries are visible to other players. Your email, exact GPS routes, health data and names are private.

Third parties

  • Map tiles are provided by OpenFreeMap using OpenStreetMap data; tile requests reveal your approximate map view to that service.
  • Sign in with Apple and Google Sign-In are handled by Apple and Google under their own privacy policies.
  • Push notifications are delivered through Apple Push Notification service.
  • Bonus places on the map come from OpenStreetMap (© OpenStreetMap contributors, ODbL).

We use no analytics SDKs, no advertising networks and no data brokers.

Retention and deletion

We keep your data while your account exists. You can delete your account at any time in the app (Profile → Delete account). This permanently removes your profile, routes, health data, captures, territories, achievements and photo, and revokes your Sign in with Apple token. Server backups are rotated within 14 days.

Your rights

You can view and edit your profile in the app and export or delete your data by contacting us. California residents have the rights described in the CCPA, including the right to know, delete and opt out of sale — we do not sell personal data. Residents of the EU/EEA and UK have the rights provided by GDPR; the legal basis for processing is performance of the game service you request and, for health data, your explicit consent.

Children

ClashLand is not intended for children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect data from them.

Security

Data is transmitted over HTTPS and stored on access-controlled servers. Passwords are stored as salted hashes.

Changes

We will post updates to this policy here and update the date above. Significant changes will be announced in the app.
